ABOUT BERNICE

About Me
Executive Coach | Strategic Consultant | Growth Partner
I’m Bernice Caruso Donato—an Executive Coach, Strategic Consultant, and Growth Partner who helps leaders and organizations create clarity, strengthen decision-making, and accelerate growth with intention. I work at the intersection of strategy, operations, finance, and human behavior, guiding executives through complexity, transition, and transformation.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and more than a decade of experience advising leaders, I bring a rare blend of analytical rigor, operational insight, emotional intelligence, and business acumen to every engagement. As a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), my work reflects the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and evidence-based practice.
My approach integrates executive coaching with strategic consulting. I help clients gain clarity, align their leadership with their values, communicate with confidence, regulate their emotional energy, and make grounded, strategic decisions. I believe that self-leadership is the foundation of all leadership—organizations cannot outperform the self-awareness or emotional maturity of the people who lead them.
In addition to my private practice, I serve on the Board of the International Coaching Federation New Jersey Chapter as the 2024–2025 Treasurer and Co-Lead of the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan. In these roles, I oversee financial strategy, budgeting, governance alignment, and multi-year organizational planning—experience that deepens my consulting work and strengthens my role as a strategic, operational, and financial partner to executives and leadership teams.
I’m known for bringing order to chaos—helping organizations build systems, create alignment, strengthen culture, and bridge the gap between intention and execution. My work combines reflective inquiry, leadership development, and strategic operational thinking to create a comprehensive and sustainable approach to growth.
Outside of my coaching and consulting work, I enjoy creating courses, writing, and producing my leadership-focused podcast. I am also committed to community leadership and mentorship, supporting emerging leaders and mission-driven organizations.
I partner with executives, founders, and growth-oriented professionals who want to lead with clarity, courage, and purpose. Whether you’re navigating a pivotal transition, elevating your leadership capacity, or preparing for what’s next, I help you unlock your strengths, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful, sustainable success.

Before stepping into executive coaching and consulting, I earned a Bachelor’s in Accounting from New Jersey City University. I built a successful career in finance and operations with firms such as ADP and The MWW Group, and later founded and ran my own medical collection agency.
My background in finance, combined with my entrepreneurial experience, shapes how I support leaders today. It gives me a deep appreciation for the intersection of business goals, financial discipline, and the personal growth required to lead with clarity and impact.

BEFORE I WAS "ME"

Earlier in my career, I built my path the traditional way—earning my degree in Accounting, taking on leadership roles in corporate finance, launching my own business, and developing a reputation for discipline, operational excellence, and strong analytical thinking. On paper, everything looked exactly as it should. But internally, I recognized something many high-performing leaders experience: I was operating successfully, but not intentionally.
There came a point where I realized that leading others without leading myself was unsustainable. I was achieving, but not aligned. I was meeting expectations, but not checking in with my own values, priorities, or long-term vision. That realization became a turning point and ultimately reshaped how I understood leadership, growth, and personal responsibility.
Through deep reflection, study, and professional development, I began to understand the connection between clarity, emotional regulation, decision-making, and sustainable leadership. I learned firsthand that self-leadership isn’t optional—it is the foundation of every meaningful personal and professional outcome.
That insight became the core of my philosophy: True leadership starts with self-leadership.
It’s also what fuels my work today.
My transition into executive coaching, strategic consulting, and growth partnership work was a natural evolution of that understanding. Leaders don’t just need strategies—they need alignment. They need the internal clarity that supports external impact. They need the emotional maturity, values connection, and internal steadiness required to lead teams, navigate complexity, and drive results.
Today, I help executives, founders, and organizations elevate both sides of leadership—the strategic and the human—so they can create sustainable success built on clarity, intention, and self-leadership.
WHAT BECAME OF "ME"
"It is better to follow the voice inside and be at war with the whole world than to follow the ways of the world and be at war with your deepest self."
~ Michael Pastore

There comes a point in every leader’s life where external success no longer compensates for internal misalignment. I experienced my own version of that crossroads. What became clear through my transition was this: to lead effectively — in life, work, and relationships — I needed to reconnect with my values, my voice, and my internal compass.
The process wasn’t glamorous. It required honesty, reflection, and a willingness to examine what was no longer serving me. But it also revealed strengths, clarity, and resilience I hadn’t fully recognized. I learned that sustainable leadership demands three things:
-
Authenticity: honoring who you are and what you stand for
-
Honesty: being willing to say the truth out loud — to yourself and others
-
Courage: taking aligned action even when it feels uncomfortable
That work fundamentally reshaped the way I lead and the way I support others.
Today, I operate from a place of clarity and alignment. I trust my internal guidance. I make decisions based on values, not pressure. And I help others do the same — because I’ve lived the consequences of abandoning myself and the transformation that comes from returning to that inner truth.
This personal evolution strengthened my commitment to the belief that true leadership starts with self-leadership. It’s why I stand so firmly in the work I do today: helping leaders navigate transitions, clarify their vision, and realign their lives and leadership with what matters most.
I’ve built a career and a company that honor my values and stretch my capabilities. I surround myself with people who challenge, support, and inspire me. And I continue to pursue growth — professionally and personally — with intention, curiosity, and joy.
My journey didn’t just shape who I am. It sharpened my purpose. It deepened my capacity to help others lead themselves first, so they can lead their teams, organizations, and lives with clarity and integrity.
